Designing Sewing and Cloth Technology is an occupation essentially dealing with making women’s, men’s and children’s clothes. Embroidery and Interior Designing form a significant part as well. Designing is an art of creating original outfits, embroidery articles and interior designs. 2 Sewing involves processes of dress making, tailoring and garment alterations. These encompass basic and routine sewing. Cloth technology covers all aspects of fabrics. These involve identification of fabric types, sources, characteristics, use and care. In this occupation making of Tie and Dye materials, Batik materials is also included; not withstanding making prints and painted materials as well.

Aim

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge, right attitudes and practical skills to people who want to be employed/or self-employed as per labour market demands.

Objectives

At the end of the course, the trainee should be able to:
(a) Maintain safety of workshop and surroundings.
(b) Maintain tools and equipment.
(c) Interpret commercial patterns and make patterns using direct body measurements.
(d) Design different fashion styles and make silhouettes.
(e) Make casual, office, leisure and classic garments.
(f) Plan and manage a workshop.
(g) Establish an enterprise and supervise subordinates.
